Corporate Lawyer (Remote – Bangalore, India)

Novalnet, a leading global payment service provider headquartered in Germany, is seeking a talented and experienced Corporate Lawyer to join our growing team. As a BaFin-regulated payment institution, we ensure the highest standards of compliance across money laundering prevention, data protection, risk management, and more.

About the Role

In this exciting remote role based in Bangalore, you will play a critical role in supporting Novalnet’s legal needs across all aspects of our business as an authorized payment service provider in the EU. You will be a trusted advisor, providing strategic legal counsel and ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal agreements, including contracts, terms & conditions, partner agreements, customer agreements, NDAs, and IP-related agreements.
  • Advise on legal matters pertaining to financial services, banking, SaaS, and relevant EU regulations. (GDPR knowledge a plus)
  • Manage legal aspects related to Novalnet’s compliance framework, ensuring adherence to BaFin regulations, AML/KYC requirements, data protection laws, and card scheme regulations (VISA, Mastercard etc.)
  • Proactively identify and mitigate legal risks for the company.
  • Stay up-to-date on evolving regulations and legal developments impacting the payments industry.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders across various departments, including business development, product, and compliance.

Your Qualifications:

  • LLB degree from a recognized university in India.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience working as a corporate lawyer in the banking, finance, or payments sector.
  • Strong understanding of contracts, commercial law, and intellectual property law.
  • Proven ability to draft, review, and negotiate complex legal agreements.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively explain complex legal concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory.
