Internet payment system
The Internet payment system is the interface between the online merchant and its customer. Whether a payment can be processed securely and quickly is often a decisive argument for buying from a particular online store. In this context, customers primarily want to use payment solutions that they already know and use, so that they do not have to register with various providers.
Registration required
Along with the increasing influence of online shopping, the preferred methods of payment are also changing. Online-based payment methods are becoming increasingly important, where the merchant receives immediate confirmation of receipt of payment, so that the time required to process an order is drastically reduced compared to other payments. In addition, major providers such as Paypal offer protection for both merchants and buyers. With an Internet payment system such as Paypal, Moneybookers or Wirecard, payment is made via the user account. The customer’s personal data is stored there. If the payment system is integrated directly into the store page, the customer is redirected to the provider’s page during the payment process, enters his password there and then clicks to release the payment. The customer’s account or credit card is debited accordingly, and the merchant immediately receives notification that payment has been received.
Alternatives for small amounts
If mainly digital content such as newspaper articles or pieces of music are sold, a system such as Paypal is often not worthwhile because the fees are too high. For such merchants, one option is to use prepaid systems, where credit is purchased that can be used as a means of payment online by code. Another alternative is the ClickandBuy Internet payment system, which collects payments in the micro range and debits them monthly. Telekom offers the option of paying micro amounts via the telephone bill. To do this, the customer needs a password, and the purchase amount is debited with the next telephone bill. All that is required is a fixed-network line with Deutsche Telekom.
