User ID uniquely identifies each user
The user ID (also user ID) identifies a user by means of a unique user ID and grants access to a computer or a network. The user information, which is specific to each user, is used for authentication on a network. Logging in requires entering the user ID each time, which is usually composed of a name or pseudonym and a password. Access to the protected system is granted only after the user ID has been entered correctly. At the end of the session, the user must log out again. If the logout is missed, access to the protected area often remains active. Therefore, for privacy reasons, everyone should pay attention to the logout. The logout process can also be forced by the system administrator after a certain time has passed.
User ID is linked to user account
Nowadays, access to the computer, but also to most online services, is regulated by an individual login. The user must first log in with his user ID and is then granted access to protected files, services or networks. On the Internet in particular, hardly any service can be done without a user ID. Whether online banking, email providers, social media, forums or web stores – all these different services rely on user IDs to clearly assign users and protect sensitive data from unauthorized access. The user ID is linked to a user account to which special rights can be assigned.
Users expect security, especially for bank data
Access control is frequently used on the Internet. In the case of online stores, telecommunications providers or other paid services, users must also enter their bank details. These are particularly interesting for hackers, so the provider must make special efforts to protect bank data.
Creating a user ID is accompanied by acceptance of the user regulations
Anyone who creates a user ID and logs on to a service for the first time must enter a valid email address. A confirmation link is then sent to this email address for authentication. Only after this link has been clicked is the service activated for the user. By registering, the user accepts the terms of use of the corresponding service. Anyone who violates these can be permanently excluded from the network.
Forgot your user ID?
Since the login name and the associated password are sensitive data, they should not be written down anywhere. Only those who know their user ID by heart can permanently protect their user account from unauthorized access. If the user ID is forgotten, it is necessary to contact the administrator of the system. He has several possibilities to give the user access to his account again. He can send him a new password or send an email resetting the forgotten password.
