B2G – Business to Government
B2G relationships are generally defined as the relationships of companies with the government and its agencies. They are designed to improve communication and the effectiveness of cooperation between companies and the government.
Closeness to the citizen through B2G
In the course of increasingly internationalized bureaucracy within the framework of the EU, it is necessary to guarantee citizens easy access to services from public authorities. This is done within the framework of B2G – Business to Government in the form of e-government or e-administration. By providing electronic services, costs can be saved on a large scale. There is also a reduction in administrative and personnel costs, which also leads to a reduction in costs.
Simplified bureaucracy
For citizens, e-government simplifies many everyday administrative procedures. Many services can now be performed online, e.g., registering and re-registering cars, registering for unemployment and the like. The provision of various application forms on the Internet also saves citizens a considerable amount of time, so that applications can be completed and submitted to appointments or delivered by post. In some cases, it is even possible to complete and submit applications online using a digital signature, because the applicant and the authenticity of the application can be clearly authenticated. Furthermore, automated reporting systems often draw attention to errors in filling out applications, so that here, too, there is a significant time saving with a high degree of customer orientation.
Data exchange at EU level
Since 2000, the authorities of the EU countries have been cooperating within the framework of the IDA project (Interchange of Data Between Administrations) by exchanging data throughout Europe. Since 2004, this has been done under the IDABC project (Interoperable Delivery of European eGovernment Services to public Administrations, Businesses and Citizens) and as a result of these projects, pan-European data exchange and service delivery programs have been developed. Not only citizens, but also small and medium-sized enterprises benefit from the increasingly comprehensive B2G offerings, because they, too, often save on personal contacts with various authorities and can handle their concerns online.
B2G has a future
The broad range of online services has already established itself with many citizens and also companies and is used accordingly frequently. Due to the high level of cost-effectiveness, companies and public authorities are keen to continue this development and convince even more people of the online offering. The offering is also being developed further and further. As a result, public authorities are working ever more efficiently and cost effectively, and for citizens, contacts with public authorities are becoming even more time-saving. In addition, electronic data capture and storage, within the framework of data protection guidelines, makes it easier to manage customer data, which in turn reduces the costs of analog filing and storage systems.
