Unique Content
The term unique content is used to describe content on websites that does not appear twice on the web. It is primarily used in connection with unique texts, but videos, graphics or other media can also be unique content. This contrasts with the term duplicate content, which refers to content that has already been published in full or in part elsewhere on the web. In search engine optimization (SEO), unique content plays an extremely important role, as it is very important for the positive evaluation of a website by search engines.
Production of unique content
Unique content can be produced in different ways. Optimally, experts write unique texts for a fee, with a good reading flow and real added value for the user. In practice, however, these are often texts that are simply created by replacing individual words or by simply lengthening or shortening an existing text. However, search engine crawlers are now so sophisticated that they recognize such attempts at deception and classify them as duplicate content. “Text spinning” is another common method used to create unique content. However, the resulting content usually lacks linguistic quality and added value. Modern search engine crawlers now also frequently recognize spun texts as duplicate content.
Benefits of unique content
Unique content with real added value for the reader has the advantage that the interested reader is encouraged to read on and return. However, content also has an important role in search engine optimization. Search engine crawlers are on the web every second to find unique and original content that can help the user with their question. Found content is indexed and returned in a specific order when a user searches for it. The better a website or its content matches a search query, the higher the page rises in the SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages). For this reason, unique content is considered one of the most important measures in search engine optimization.
Unique content in online stores
Online stores in particular often have problems offering unique content. Usually they get permission from their suppliers to use their product descriptions. This results in numerous online stores using the same product descriptions. Especially with a large product range, it is very time-consuming and cost-intensive to provide unique content for each product.
